1st - Daffodils and Snowdrops in flower on Hillside.

3rd - male Sparrowhawk seen in a garden on Hillside.

4th - Sparrowhawk seen hunting Stanhope Wood.

4th - 2 Goldcrests seen and photographed in back garden Sycamore Avenue.

4th - 3 Bzzards seen adjacent to the road bridge over the A50.

4th - 4 Stock Doves seen in the field south of the railway line, viewed from Watson's Bridge.

4th - 2 Mistle Thrush seen at the top of Hillside.

4th - 2 Mistle Thrush seen near Hicklin's Bridge.

4th - 2 Goldcrest seen in the NW corner of the sewage works.

6th - Kingfisher seen on the canal near Hicklin's Bridge.

8th - Goldcrest seen feeding on Holly bush near Hicklin's Bridge.

8th - Treecreeper seen amongst willows along the canal towpath.

8th - 3 male Bullfinches seen near the A50 underpass.

8th - Reed Bunting seen amongst House Sparrows at the top of Porter's Lane.

9th - Goldcrest seen in Heath Lane near the A50.

10th - 4 Buzzards and a Sparrowhawk seen over Stanhope Wood. 3 male Bullfinches seen on the embankment near the A50 underpass.

12th - Peregrine falcon seen on track near the A50 underpass.

12th - Little Grebe and 5 Tufted ducks seen on Mercia Marina Pond.

13th - Barn Owl seen  being mobbed by crows in Stanhope Wood.

13th - Snowdrops out on the canal towpath.

15th - Buzzard seen over the sewage works. Kestrel seen hunting near HIcklin Bridge. 2 Yellowhammers seen near HIcklin Bridge. 1 pair of Bullfinches seen near the Nadee restaurant and another pair seen on the embankment near the A50 underpass. A pair of Song Thrush seen in a field near the Nadee and a female Blackcap seen in an ivy clad tree opposite Clovermead Kennels. 4 Skylarks seen near Hicklin bridge.

15th - Sparrowhawk seen in Cote Close Bird Sanctuary.

16th - Male Bullfinch seen between A50 and Crow Park Way wet area.

16th - Buzzard sitting in tree near Cardales Meadow.

20th - Fieldfare on bird feeder in garden Sycamore Avenue.

21st - Fox seen in back garden of a house on Hillside.

23rd - Spotted Woodpecker seen near the fork on Common Piece Lane.

25th - Flock of Fieldfares and Redwings in the field between the railyway line and Mercia Marina Willington Road.

25th - Great Spotted Woodpecker seen in a tree in Sycamore Avenue.

26th - 2 Buzzards over Hillside, one over the sewage works and one perched in a tree Crow Park Way, 3 Mistle Thrushes in field Heath Lane, 20+ Pied Wagtails, 4 Long Tailed Tits, 1 Goldcrest and 1 female Reed Bunting seen at the sewage works.

28th - Live Hedgehog in back garden Sycamore Avenue.

29th - 50+ Redwing in field south of the railway line viewed from Watson's Bridge, pair of Song Thrushes and 1 Mistle Thrush in a field near the Nadee Restaurant, 20+ Pied Wagtails, 1 Grey Wagtail, 6 Reed Buntings and 1 Sparrowhawk seen near the sewage works.

30th - Snowdrops out in Stanhope Wood.

31st - Flock of Redwing in field Findern Lane, Willington just before the level crossing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

February

February

1st - Fox seen strolling up the footpath at the back of Aults Close and 3.40 in the afternoon!!!

2nd - Reed Bunting on bird feeder Aults Close.

2nd - Pair of thrushes seen in garden Sycamore Avenue.

2nd - 6 Wrens, 1 Grey Wagtail and 1 Snipe all seen feeding in the outflow at the sewage works. Also 5 Mistle Thrushes seen amongst Fieldfares seen in the field opposite Cote Close Bird Sanctuary.

3rd - Flock of Redwing and Fieldfares in field opp Ballast Hole Pond.

3rd - Reed Bunting on bird feeder Aults Close, flock of Redwing in tree Aults Close.

3rd - 2 Buzzards soaring over Crow Park Way,  7 Song Thrushes feeding with Redwings in a field North of the canal between the Nadee Restaurant and the sewage works. Male Reed Bunting seen at the sewage works, a pair of Bullfinches seen on the pond opposite the Nadee and a lone male seen on the footpath at the back of King George V playing field.

4th - Flock of about 12 Redwing in tree Aults Close and feeding on holly berries in front garden.

 4th - 3 Fieldfares seen in back garden Burton Road.

 5th - Seen feeding in the filter beds and and in the small reed bed at the sewage works: Redwings, Pied Wagtails, Blackbirds, Wrens, Robins, Dunnocks, 3 Grey Wagtails and the Snipe again.

5th - 2 Mistle Thrushes feeding in back garden Hillside.

6th - Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail, Goldcrest and a male Reed Bunting all seen at the sewage works.

9th - Fieldfare, Redwing and Wren feeding on cotoneaster in back garden Aults Close.

9th - Goldcrest seen Crow Park Way near the locked gate.

11th - Meadow Pipit seen by the sewage works.

15th - Heron seen on the Priory Way Walk.

15th - Kingfisher seen to fly over the canal near the sewage works.

16th - Kestrel seen hunting near Hicklin's Bridge, Sparrowhawk seen flying over the sewage works, Great Spotted Woodpecker seen in trees by the canal, 2 Stock Doves seen in the stubble field near Watson's Bridge, Grey Wagtail, 5 Reed Buntings and about 20 Pied Wagtails seen in field west of sewage works, Goldcrest and flock of Long Tailed Tits in NW corner of sewage works, 8 Yellowhammers seen in a tree near HIcklin's Bridge.
